Our client has an immediate opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team.

Major Responsibilities

  • Quote all new WELDING / FORMING/ CNC related programs and equipment
  • Work with suppliers and develop new perishable tool designs
  • Executes RFQ’s and follows the purchasing process for new equipment, tools, parts
  • Monitor toollife during production and continuously improve consumption, improve perishable tooling
  • Working with maintenance to determine PM daily weekly etc schedules, cross training as required
  • Establish machine process parameters for all new programs (WELDING / FORMING / CNC related)
  • Responsible for all operator instructions related to manufacturing process
  • Plant facility engineering for proper machine layout, packaging layout, process center equipment i.e. inspection tables floor mats etc
  • Submits budget numbers for new equipment for capital
  • Responsible for plant simulation and material flow for the entire plant
  • Ensure that equipment standards actually reflect equipment being purchased
  • Responsible for all H&S related issues in regards to new equipment being purchased (i.e. PSR, CSA requirements)
  • Follows up on new equipment progress and completes equipment progress reports and submits to purchasing to allow of payments as per PO
  • Ensures that all equipment is delivered on time and meets all requirements, manages project until fully implemented
  • Co ordinates prototype process development, drawings, tooling
  • Ensure quoted run rates are achieved and maintained during the product life
  • Ensure that machines and process are fully signed off by production and maintenance departments prior to PPAP
  • Manages open issues lists and optimization of key processes through key measurable indicators and reports back to manager on progress
  • Responsible for process improvements to drive better process capabilities
  • Designs and executes HR approved employee training and testing of operators
  • Ensures that machine parameters are set / backed-up and locked out
  • Audits machine perimeters to ensure compliance, and provides feedback to production
  • Works with quality for first offs as required
  • Follows through with requests by the department manager in a timely manor

Qualifications & Skills

  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree
  • Must have valid P.Eng. designation and be in good standing, or must be registered with the PEO as a EIT (applicant in training)
  • Project Management and APQP experience
  • 5-10 years Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Understanding in machining and metal forming technology
  • Excellent documentation, organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Expert in 3D CAD Modelling (solidworks), computer skills and drafting experience (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Outlook) required
  • Excellent English language communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001 systems
  • Basics of WHMIS, IMDS, Ergonomics,
  • Able to work under extreme demands
