Our client located in Concord, Ontario has an immediate opening for a Mould Maker

Shift: Rotating afternoons/days & possibly midnights

Wage: Negotiable depending on experience

Responsibilities    

  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of theories and principals used in mold making, injection molding process, RIM molding process, and various other specialized molding processes
  • Instruct both the theory and practical applications of all aspects of the mold build process to other members of the team respecting skill levels, with attention to safety, quality, cost and timing
  • Support and adhere to timelines and job plans for build
  • Participate in production meetings, c/w issues and options when Team Leader is unable to attend
  • Participate in up front design reviews as a resource to engineering
  • Support the standardized design and outputs for all teams
  • Operate dills, mills, lathes and surface grinders, overhead cranes (up to 50T capacity) and forklift in a safe manner
  • Ensure all information (prints, gun drill charts, machining forms, welding forms, etc.) gets to all departments, outsources in a timely manner to meet milestones
  • Participate in the operation of machines in a safe and efficient manner as required by the schedule (24 hours per day, 7 days per week as practical)
  • Ensure time tickets, work orders, etc. are prepared accurately and in a timely manner (when machine coordinator is unavailable)
  • Ensure all mold components under their direct control are available and accounted for; Ensure that tool tags are used for tooling in the tool crib by all members, and that all tooling and extra stock items are returned to the proper location immediately after use
  • Ensure only components required for build are charged to job and eliminate duplicate orders
  • Must verify that customer specifications and company standards are met during the performance of your task(s)
  • Document all discussions with customers including instructions, etc.
  • Participate in benchmarking new tooling and equipment and provide accurate, timely feedback
  • Operate dills, mills, lathes and surface grinders, overhead cranes (up to 50T capacity) and forklift in a safe manner
  • Utilize the non-conformance process to provide accurate, detailed documentation of all issues, non-conformances or constraints that cause rework or tool delay and understand why this has occurred
  • Able to travel as required for investigational or training purposes
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abide by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promote safety in the workplace
  • Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behaviour
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives
  • Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards; Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
  • Completion of a college Trade or Technology program
  • Several years experience in a mold or tool shop, preferably in the automotive manufacturing industry
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude
  • Exposure to CAD software
  • Demonstrate good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong problem solving skills and an ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be a reliable team player who is self-motivated with a positive attitude
