Our client located in New Brunswick has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Research and prepare preliminary feasibility studies and capital spending requests (CPA) in accordance with company Procedures;
    Assist the E&I department and production departments with providing high quality engineering support with regards to field E&I equipment;
  • Expert in the design of low, medium, and high voltage power distribution systems including their protection and control of switchgears, MCC and turbo generator excitation and control system;
  • Develop and conduct a preventative maintenance and life cycle plan with regards to the PLC system;
  • Develop lifecycle plans for all Electrical process field equipment;
  • Project management as required;
    Design, install and maintain AC and DC drives and systems; and update electrical schematics;
  • Develop, review and implement protection relay settings, tripping logics and settings files;
  • Implementation and management of Arc Flash safety program;
  • Conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and provide recommendations for long and short-term fixes;
  • Liaise and supervise external contractor, consultants and tradespersons on installation and commissioning of all electrical and instrumentation capital projects;
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment;
  • Recommends improvements to procedure, standards and practices, as part of our continuous improvement;
  • Ensure full compliance with the collective agreement and foster sound union-management and employee relations;
  • Comply with Health & Safety and environment standards.

Requirements:

  • BSc. Electrical Engineering;
  • Minimum 8 years of electrical experience in industrial manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in the design and implementation of MV and LV electrical systems including substation, motors and drives, power distribution, power generation, as well as working knowledge of field instrumentation and equipment automation;
  • P.Eng certification would be considered as an asset;
  • Working Knowledge of ETAP or similar, AutoCAD; and MS Project;
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and leadership skills are essential. (verbal/written);
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Experience working in a unionized environment;
  • Knowledge of Maximo and SAP;
  • Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision;
  • Strong time management, organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills are required;
  • Experience with planning systems; annual shutdown;
  • Flexible and ability to adapt to changing priorities;
  • Past Pulp & Paper Supervisory and/or Management experience would be considered an asset.
