Our client is searching for an Assistant Manager for their Welding Engineering department.  If you are looking to join a growing and dynamic team in a world class manufacturing environment then this is the job for you!

SUMMARY:

As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Engineering Assistant Manager will be responsible for leading the engineering team in implementing and maintaining and improving plant projects.  This is a pivotal role as it involves working with all levels of the organization as well as customer and supplier groups.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish and follow-up with new program implementation
  • Prepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • Prepare and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regarding program launch deliverables and milestones
  • Investment Cost justification
  • Follow up with new programs ensuring quality, productivity and equipment efficiency from start to program launch.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes, quality improvements, continuous productivity improvements, cost reduction programs, and establish new methods or procedures.
  • Mentor, coach and guide the engineering team
  • Participate in recruiting of department personnel by conducting interviews as required.
  • Develop good relationships with all levels of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive and Five (5) years or more is an asset)
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred and three (3) years or more is an asset)
  • Robotic welding integration, optimization, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment (asset)
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • People Development (feedback/coaching, delegation, motivating others, performance management, communicating expectations).
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
    • Good communication skills with audiences of all levels
    • Average computer skills (MS Office, Autocad and ADP)
    • Innovative mindset to continually adapt to changing business needs
    • Interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, conflict resolution)
